Herbal Mead Workshop
Meads are honey wines that can be made with raw unpasteurized honey, and incorporate many different healing herbs as well as nutrient dense juices from fruits and berries. In this workshop you will learn how to make your own herbal mead preparations with just a few all-natural ingredients and simple DIY low-tech methods.
In this workshop we will take you step by step through the process of making your own homemade herbal mead from raw unpasteurized honey, water, and freshly gathered herbs.
You will be making your own quart sized batch of mead to take home with herbs you have gathered fresh from the farm. Detailed handouts will be given, including useful recipes so that you can repeat the process easily at home.
We will cover through hands-on and demonstration:
- incorporating herbal infusions and whole herbs into meads
- DIY equipment options
- wild fermentation vs cultured fermentation
- processes of primary and secondary stages fermentation
- processes of syphoning and racking
- bottling and aging
- making 'sparkling' meads
