Felting Series: Intro to Needle Felting
Join felting artist Grace, for this fun and informative introduction to the art of needle felting. In this workshop you will learn all you need to get started exploring the creative art of felting, and will make your own little felted animal to take home.
Learn the basics of needle felting using wool roving and a barbed needle. You will experiment with sculptural and form building techniques. Every person will make their own little bird to take home!
Workshop fees include fibre as well as the cushion and needle, which students will get to take home to keep.
Ages: 8+ (consideration: this activity uses a sharp needle and requires some hand-eye coordination and patience)
Grace Aroella-Jarvie has a wide array of passions and an endless curiosity which keeps her striving towards new experiences. She is especially interested in traditional skills and knowledge, seeking to maintain a way of life that is connected to the earth. Her pursuits currently include herbalism, wild crafting, small-scale farming and a variety of artistic crafts. Tying together a love for natural materials and working with her hands, Grace has been exploring the world of fibre arts for the last 6 years. Her fibre practices include felting, natural dying, spinning, crocheting and weaving. She has been teaching felting workshops to children and adults for the last 2 years. She hopes to share her enthusiasm for hand crafted goods and the beauty of natural materials in a way that inspires others.
