Wildcrafting Intensive: Nettle
Spend the day with an abundant wild food and medicine: Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica). During this wildcrafting intensive students will get well acquainted with Nettle as a new native plant ally and valuable friend in the forest.
Native to coastal BC and Vancouver Island, with many species around the world, Nettle is well known as a nutrient rich 'super' food and valuable medicine. In this workshop students will get to know this incredible plant, and learn:
the medicinal uses of nettle
how to prepare nettle as a food (including recipes!)
how to find and identify nettle in the wild
sustainable wild crafting techniques
how to grow nettle in the garden
how and when to harvest
effective medicine making methods
There will be hands-on activities in identifying, harvesting, processing, and medicine making. Each student will get to take home their own bag of fresh nettles they harvested, as well as a mineral rich infused vinegar we will prepare together in class.
